A Mapping of Game Genres

What kind gamer of you? The kind that prefers to immerse yourself in vast, complex RPGs and to go at alone? or the kind that enjoys a simple dance game with a bunch of friends?

In a study published in American Psychologist called "The Benefits of Playing Video Games", researchers have made a map of game genres, that visualizes distinctive traits of the various genres.

The map is based on two dimensions ranging from 'non-social' to 'social' and 'simple' to 'complex', respectively. The authors of the study emphasize that the map is conceptual, not empirical.

Do you agree with this visualization? Can you locate your favorite genres?
